Text Fields & Fonts

How your fields are displayed on an ID Card is important. You can use different types of text fields, and display them with various attributes to create an ID card that will enhance your organization.

There are three types of text fields that you can use on your ID Card:

  • Variable Text Field
  • Static Text Field
  • Composite (Variable & Static) Text Field

Variable Text Fields contain data that varies from card to card, such as names, employee numbers, etc.

Static Text Fields contain data that is the same on every card, such as a company or school name.

Composite Text Fields are a combination of variable and static data. Composite Text Fields are convenient for labeling data. An example of this would be “Name: John Smith”, where Name: is static, and John Smith is variable.

Fonts

Text fields are available in a wide variety of fonts and attributes. However, just because these options are available doesn't necessarily mean you have to use them all.

To avoid making the card look too "busy", it's probably best to use two fonts at most. Arial and Times New Roman are two of the more popular choices. They are familiar to people and they're easy to read.
